Does anybody have this lens by Pentax? I've seen some on Amazon and Ebay for a decent price and was thinking of getting one. Is this lens any good?

From what I've read it's a good lens, especially considering its modest cost.

I've noticed that some 55-300's have a red ring around the lens and some are DAL vs DA what's that about? Is there any difference in the lens.

The lenses with the red ring are the new "HD" versions of the DA limited lenses (DAL). The limited lenses do not let you manually focus the lens while the camera is set to autofocus, unlike the non-limited DA lenses.

I do landscapes and use the AF feature on digital cameras so I don't usually use the manual focus.Does the HD stand for high dynamic? Are the HD lens sharper than the DAL lens? The HD lens are diffently more expensive.

From what I've read about the Pentax HD lenses, they may be a bit sharper than the regular lenses but not enough to justify the large difference in price.
