I am looking for a fully automatic point and shoot camera for taking pictures of children.
    Criteria:
    Good photos of course
    Automatic
    Fast shutter speed
    Small/lightweight
    Video capability
    reasonable price

Currently have the Sony Cybershot DSC W120 and it takes somewhat good photos if the babies would stand still for 2-3 seconds. Like that will happen!

    So can you help

Shutter speed has nothing to do with the issue that concerns you. You're looking for a camera with low shutter lag - one that will take the photo with very little delay from the time you press the shutter button until the time the picture is taken.

Your Sony W120 is actually not too bad on the issue of shutter lag. But you can get a similar camera that's much faster. Over the past few months I reviewed two small cameras for this website that were very quick and had good image quality - the Nikon S6000 and Fuji Z800EXR. Either one would be an improvement over your Sony.
