I have an Optio S40 and have loved it! the last time I tried to use it when I turn it on it tells me the battery is depleted. I changed the batteries to new one and get the same message. I bought more battries and changed them again but every time i turn it on it says the battery is depleted. Does anyone know how to fix this cheaply?

    carldawson55,
Try holding the menu and power-on buttons simultaneously, or the menu, flash and power-on buttons. This is usually a system reset combination for Pentax.

If that doesn't work, I'm betting the problem is physical (i.e. power controller) and not firmware. Time for professional service if this is the case.

    Hope this helps,
    dr
