I have a Fujifil FinePix S1800. It recently developed a problem where the screen goes black/purpple. The screen will stil be on. If you try taking pictures they appear black/purple even if I switch to EVF/LCD I cant see anything when I look through the port. I've tried resetting, formating the memory card, updating the firmware but non of this works! It only starts working when it decides to on its own or when I press the "up" button to adjust LCD brightness. I have to keep pressing the button like a million times. The screen then goes from black/purple to a heavily saturated pink (where you can now see images slighty but if you take a picture it wil come out pink) then if I'm lucky after that stage it will go back to normal. Please help its driving me crazy and its out of warranty

Sorry to say but it sounds like the camera's sensor is failing. This shouldn't be happening with a relatively new camera like the S1800. Even though the camera is out of warranty you still should consider contacting Fuji to see what they say. Maybe they can give you some useful advice or offer you a discount on one of their new, similar cameras.
