SD memory question

    I plan on getting a 7mp camera-how many photos will a 1gig memory stick hold?

    It depends on the compression setting (on Canon's cameras, you have Superfine, Fine and Normal). Often, manufacturers provide approximate file sizes in their specifications sheet. I think you mentioned the Canon SD500 in another thread. After looking at its spec sheet (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelTechSpecsAct&fcategoryid=145&modelid=11157), it looks like an image taken at Medium 1 (2592x1944) and the lowest compression (Superfine) will be approx 2503KB. Unfortunately, they don't have a file size for "Large" resolution. Take a look at the chart and see if you can extrapolate the file size for full resolution.

    With everything maxed out I get about 300 shots on my 1gig stick. I opted to go with the "faster" ultra 2 series.
