I recently tried out my new Pentax K5 with the 18-55 lens on it and it generally worked ok but I was wondering what is the sharpest lens made out there for landscapes.I usually used my lens at 18mm @f8 and in some of the photos I'm a little disapointed with the sharpness.I used f8 because it was a wide angle lens and really didn't seem to need anything more than f8.I probobly should have used at least f.11 but I thought f8 would do it.I alsos used the camera in Ap priority mode and sometimes got f6.7. I slao used a tripod with the 2 sec time release. So what lens are the best?

Since you like the 18mm angle of view, go for a prime lens that has approximately an 18mm focal length. The Pentax DA 15mm F4 ED AL Limited is supposed to be an excellent wide-angle lens, though it's fairly expensive. Keep in mind that, as with all wide-angle lenses, you're going to get some distortion on either side.

Edit: The Pentax DA 21mm f/3.2 is also an excellent lens that's approximately the focal length you want. It will give you less distortion than the 15mm lens.
