Has anyone ever taken their own passport photo?
I dislike those photo booths so I wanted to give it a try.

I am aware of the photo guidelines, but does anyone have any tips for taking a great quality passport photo?

Allow good lighting so that you don't need to use a flash, use a tripod if you need to. Also, it's usually better to set the camera back a bit and zoom in than it is to leave the camera at its widest zoom setting and put it close to you.

I did this once.. it got rejected due to the quality.
Use the highest MP you can. Silly me used 2MP instead of 5 and it showed in the printout.

Dont zoom at all as Ben said, and ensure the background is picture perfect white (or another light color) with no shadows or patterns etc.

Wish I could have tried this with my stylus! It has a remote control and I had a tripod for it and everything but its broken now-and I need a passport in the next six months! I may be buying a new camera though so I might try it then-great tips. Of course it would be easier to go have them do it.
