I have a Canon ti1 I am wanting to know if I am able to use other brands of lens such as a sony lens? What do I need to look for to make sure it is compatible?

I use just such an adapter to fit the old Olympus lenses to my Canon. However, the cheaper adapters do not support the Auto Focus function, you end up using the lens in manual mode. There are expensive adapters for old AF lenses, but they are not very successful. So if AF is important to you, simply stick with EF and EF-S type Canon lenses. Or 3rd party lenses that are made for the EF / EF-S lens mount. I've been very happy with my Sigma lens that is the EF-S mount.
