Default Best Camera for Marching Band, low light, action pics

    Hi,
I'm looking for the best camera to shoot my son's marching band. Always "under the lights" in football fileds (low light), need 10x + zoom, they are in constant motion, budget is $400. Have tried Kodak and pictures come out hazzy. Any help would be more than appreciated!
    Thanks!

The Canon SX10is, Panasonic FZ28, Olympus SP565UZ/SP570UZ and Sony DSC H50 are probably the top ultrazoom cameras right now and should be able to take decent pictures of the marching band. The best possible pictures would be taken by a DSLR camera with a long zoom lens, but that combination would cost considerably more than your $400 upper limit.

Here are a few sample pictures:

Thank you so much! They all seem to take great day time pictures but which do you suggest for low light? Our band always plays after dark and with my last camera "noise" was the issue. I know a bigger budget would help and a dslr would be ideal but I do have a budget I must stick too. Love the pic of Un Tenn!
    Thanks again,
    Donna

With the understanding that no ultrazoom camera will give you consistently good pictures under your shooting conditions, my order of preference would be:
    1. Canon SX10is
    2. Panasonic FZ28
    3. Sony DSC H50
    4. Olympus SP565UZ/SP570UZ
    Panasonic FZ28
    Canon Elph 330 HS
