Don't format your memory card - it's hardly ever necessary. One side effect is that it will wipe out everything on the card. I don't think there's a way to get back your photos.

Try using Recuva. It's free and it won't do anything bad to your card. There's no guarantee anything will be recovered, but it can't hurt to try.

As you've figured out, formatting clears the card and is used as kind of a "reset" for cards to clear the random file debris that ends up floating around after repeated use. As Andy said, it's hardly ever necessary. Give the recovery a program a try if you really need the images, but usually a format does a pretty good job of clearing most of the data.

Neene. Trying to recover deleted photos as well. When I go to RECOVA, it asks if I want to download with Filehippo.com or Alternative..I am not computer savvy, and don't know which one to choose.

ALs, I had tried a few other freebie programs, but could ot open up the file after it said they were recovered. The file was a +or t file and Idid not get it. Will it be too late to try another program after using one already. I am using a converter emory card reader as the USB connection on my camera pulled out of the camera! Need to take it in for repair soon.

    Thanks for your help.

Yes, Filehippo is fine, those are just the file hosts from which to download the file.

If Recurva does not work consider buying RescuePRO I got a copy of the program when I purchased my Sandisk Extreme III 4gb SDHC SD Card.

I've used it a couple times and it has worked very well to recover files from my memory cards, I believe there is a free demo for the program on the website, you could see if that works before buying it.

Thanks USA..Hey, how do you like the 200d. I have the 100D Super and am considering upgrading, since the price is good, but not sure if it is worth it. Might be more feasible to get better lens. I shoot a lot of sports. Use Sigma 70-300 APO but thinking about the Pentax 100 2.8 or the 100-150 2.8 (I think that is what is it) so I can get better indoor. THe prime telephotos are just out of my price range. For VB, I use my 50 1.4 which seems to work well, but I have to be close.

    Thanks again

I love the K200D, it is an excellent camera. It is my first DSLR but from what I have seen it's a decent step up from the K100D, I think you would be better of investing in better glass than in a K200D unless you want a higher resolution (good for cropping), improved AF, improved SR, and a nice new JPEG engine and image customization options but if your happy with your K100D then keep it and get better lenses.
