    Default Close up Wifi cameras

I am looking for a replacement wifi camera/camera+lens set for a setup that is over kill for the current application.

I document part tear downs and the camera needs to be able to see detailed damage on metal/plastic surfaces.

The current setup is as follows:
    -Cannon 7D
    -Cannon Wifi adapter
    -18-135mm 0.5m/1.6ft lens

This setup runs ~5k and is not great at taking close up detailed images (except w/ our separate macro lens) and requires us to be at a distance for a zoomed in shot.

I am looking for the following in a replacement setup
-less than 1.5k for the assembly
    -a close focal distance
    -built in wifi
    -more than 7MP
    -DSLR not required
    -decent image stabilization

I was thinking about Samsung smart cameras but I don't know how good those would be at close up images.

Let me know what you guys think.

It sounds like you're interested in a high quality, large sensor point and shoot that does will in low light with built-in WiFi that will enable you to take macros by bringing the lens up close to the subject. There are only a few cameras that qualify - the Canon SX110, the Samsung EX2f and the upcoming Panasonic LF1. All three would be excellent choices.

You can also incorporate WiFi into cameras without built-in WiFi by adding a WiFi memory card. This would add many more possibilities to your list including excellent large sensor point and shoot cameras from Nikon, Canon, Sony, Panasonic, Olympus and Fuji.
    My Gear:
    Panasonic FZ28
    Canon Elph 110 HS
    Canon A720IS (retired)

    Thanks Andy!

All of these are great cameras that meet our requirements.

We are leaning toward the Samsung EX2f but also considering the Canon SX110is if the eye-fi SD card works on our network.

Thanks for your help, I'm glad I came to this forum.

Sorry, I made a mistake. I meant to refer to the Canon S110, which has built-in WiFi.

Looking at your requirements, I am thinking of the Panasonic DMC LF1 camera which is being released on July 5. The price is just under $500, it has built-in Wi-Fi and a number of other cool connectivity features, camera-stabilizer, built-in composition guide - yet it can fit into your pocket.
