Default Is there a digital with no delay?

Just wondering if anyone knows of a digital camera out there that does not have that delay between pressing the button and the camera actually taking the picture. Thanks for your help.

The delay, referred to as shutter lag, is largely due to the camera acquiring focus. The delay can be minimized by prefocusing - holding the shutter halfway down to acquire focus, then pushing it the rest of the way down when you're ready to shoot.

Cameras vary on how much they are affected by shutter lag. In general, the less expensive cameras have more shutter lag. DSLR's are less affected by shutter lag than point and shoots.

Thanks - that was another one of my questions - DSLR vs Point & Shoot. Would a film camera be better with respect to shutter lag? Do other things affect shutter lag?

Here's a good explanation of shutter lag.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shutter_lag

The camera reviews on this website have a section called "timings and shutter lag" which will tell you how the camera compares to others with regard to shutter lag.

To give you an answer that has something close to what you are asking for......

I'm sure there are no cameras with zero lag, although there are some better than others. Many of the Canon cameras are very low shutter response time cameras depending on the setting you have it on. From the many cameras I have owned I am by far the most impressed with he Canon A590 I own, and it is a relatively inexpensive camera. I have been very impressed with many many features of this camera but most important to me also was that lag time.

One of the least impressive was some of the Olympus cameras, although some of the older Olympus cameras were pretty decent... Go try some out a a shop and see for yourself.
